This project involves the creation of a talking point PowerPoint presentation for the Director of the preschool. The goal is to provide a consistent, engaging, and professional way to communicate key information to prospective families during Open House events.
Problem: The Director of the preschool faced challenges during Open House events due to increasing attendance. It became difficult to provide accurate information about the preschool’s philosophy, curriculum, and enrollment procedures to every visiting family. Reliance on staff members to help provide the information introduced inconsistencies, potentially compromising the program’s integrity and the families' understanding of the preschool’s value.
Solution: A talking point PowerPoint presentation was developed to serve as a standardized tool for the Director to present critical information in a clear, engaging, and professional manner. The presentation aligns with the preschool’s "learning through play" philosophy, ensures consistency of information, and streamlines the process of communicating with prospective families.
Problem Identification: Analyzed the Director's needs and challenges during Open Houses. Assessed feedback from families and staff.
Research and Planning: Gathered essential content from preschool materials. Structured the presentation to highlight key topics such as the preschool's philosophy, programs, and enrollment process.
Content Development: Created talking points to complement the slides. Focused on ensuring clarity, relevance, and consistency of the messaging.
Visual Design: Designed visually appealing slides using Adobe Illustrator for custom graphics and Microsoft PowerPoint for assembly. Incorporated "BB" the Bluebird mascot in playful, child-friendly visuals to reflect the preschool’s philosophy of learning through play. Used consistent branding elements such as the preschool’s color palette and logo.
Testing and Revision: Conducted a trial run with the Director and staff to test the presentation’s flow and effectiveness. Gathered feedback on clarity, timing, and design; made necessary adjustments.
Microsoft PowerPoint
The talking point PowerPoint presentation significantly improved the Director's ability to engage with prospective families during Open Houses. It streamlined the process of delivering consistent, accurate information, enhanced the professionalism and visual appeal of the Open House events, reflected the preschool’s playful, child-centered philosophy, resonating with families, and reduced stress for the Director and staff by eliminating inconsistencies in delivered information.
The presentation was well-received by families, resulting in increased enrollment and a better understanding of the preschool’s unique offerings. Future updates and feedback mechanisms ensure that the presentation remains a relevant and effective tool.
Below are the slides as well as descriptions of animations on some of the slides.
The welcome side would be displayed as families arrived for the open house. It shows a logo variation celebrating the fact that Bluebird had been serving the community for over 50 years.
The preschool mascot "BB" the bluebird was used to present each talking point relating to the letter of the alphabet. The mascot was modified and letters created in Adobe Illustrator. Each "BB" letter was animated in playful ways to appear on this slide as the director was introducing the presentation.
As each "BB" letter appeared the talking points for the director would appear on clicks timed by the director allowing expanded explanations as needed. Below are images of each screen in the presentation. After the floor was opened to questions the director would release the families to visit age specific classrooms and meet teachers.
